FAQ

About the Art

What materials are used to ensure that the artwork lasts?

Professional artist surfaces are used when it comes to mounting or painting the artwork.  Professional artist paints, mediums, and varnishes are used, sourced from established suppliers in the industry to ensure that the painting is up to high standards, making it last years. All paint has a pigment light-fastness rated as I (Excellent) or II (Very Good) on the ASTM scale which means it is less likely to be damaged by the sun. Paintings (where stated) are protected with a minimum of 2 coasts of professional varnish.

Gallery grade stretcher bars for cotton/linen canvas

Professional grade stretcher bars for cotton/linen canvas

6mm Medite (moisture resistant mdf board) for cotton/linen canvas and oil/acrylic paper

6mm HDF (high density fibre board) for cotton/linen canvas and oil/acrylic paper

Boards treated with archival compounds and glues to add longevity for several decades

For the smaller paintings we provide a hanging bracket that is optional to use to hang the painting on a wall. For larger artworks we can discuss with you the options available that may incur additional costs (e.g. professional framing).

Unless it is unavoidable, paintings should not be exposed to direct sunlight because of the destructive nature of ultraviolet radiation that causes colour to fade over time. I use pigment light-fastness paints rated as I (Excellent) or II (Very Good) on the ASTM scale so that my paintings are as protected as possible.

I do not currently accept commissions.

About Purchasing Art

How do I buy a painting?

I prefer to deal with you personally through email. When the “Buy Now” button on a sale page is clicked, you will be directed to an online form. Just write in your email address, any addtional message, and the artwork(s) you are enquiring about. I will get back to you as soon as possible, during opening hours (10am – 5pm Monday – Friday).

Payment will be accepted through direct bank transfer or PayPal when finalising a sale of a painting.

We aim to ship out artwork within 2 days of receiving cleared payment, however, it does depend on the size of the artwork. Some larger artworks will need to be placed inside a harness of protective packaging.

Delivery to UK mainland addresses is included in the cost of the painting.

Delivery to destinations outside of the UK will be charged at cost.

Artwork is protected in various ways to avoid possible damage during shipping.

For larger, heavier artworks a courier that specialises in handling such artworks will be employed.

No. However, an artwork can be reserved for up to 30 days with a 20% refundable deposit. If the remaining 80% is not paid within the 30 days then the 20% deposit will be fully refunded and the artwork will be reintroduced to the available artwork gallery.

I will be selling prints of some artworks. These will be clearly marked as ‘Print’
